Kipling wrote about 'making mock of uniforms that guard you as you sleep'. When I worked in prisons there were always a good many ex-soldiers inside -- though not as many as are sleeping rough tonight. They are not sufficiently helped to reintegrate, and those with invisible wounds are mostly uncared for. As an implacable pacifist I wish they wouldn't do what they do, I understand why they do it, and I deplore society's double standard. <br /><br />What you have written is strong, comapassionate and typically humane.
